I’d hate to bring anything as touchy or as widely debated as politics into the mix, but since some things need to be said and I’ll just try to keep it concise.

I realize for a lot of people who listen to BMB, that this will be the first presidential election ever where you’ll be eligible to vote and I just wanted to reiterate the importance of staying informed, registering to vote, and casting that vote come election time. And that’s not just the cool/hollywood/pop-culture thing to say; we’re all getting older and the problems that seemed worlds away when we were in middle school are at our doorsteps right now. The economy is broken, people are out of work, the price of gas is ridiculous, the world hates us with a passion, and we’d be hard-pressed to go through 4 more years of the same thing.
I’ve gotten into arguments in the past about, “There’s no point in voting,” “What difference is my vote going to make.” And I won’t hit you with the “every vote counts” cliche, but I will say that there is always someone around you who respect your views and ideals. And by not voting or by not staying informed, that just won’t be sending the right message to them. But by setting a good example to friends and family by voicing your opinions and hitting the lines come November, then in turn they’ll do the same to theirs, who in turn will do the same to theirs, and in the end it will mean a whole lot more than just one vote. In a race so close, casting one vote isn’t enough anyways.
With that said, it’s been good seeing so many blogs posting clips about what’s been going down. Those are exactly the kinds of things that our “demographic” needs to see and become interested in. They say that this election is close, but amongst the youth and the future of this country, everyone knows that it isn’t. But that won’t matter a bit if the majority of us stay silent, refuse to exercise our given rights, and continue to allow the top 5% of America to control the future and well-being of the 95% of us. Basically if everyone votes for the next president the same way they voted for Jabbawockeez or Fanny Pak, then we might be alright.
But that’s just my point of view and mine solely. Thank you and good night.
